Current Transformer

A current transformer(CT) is a device used to measure and monitor the current in a power system. It converts high currents into smaller standard currents for easy measurement and monitoring by instrumentation and protection devices. The current transformer effectively isolates high current systems, making electrical measurements safer and easier. It is based on the same principle of electromagnetic induction as a transformer, which converts a high current on the primary side into a small current on the secondary side for measurement. The current in the secondary winding is proportional to the current in the primary winding and is used to reduce high voltage current to low voltage current.
