There is another bistable type of electromagnetic relay, the magnetic latching relay, which differs from the monostable relay in that a permanent magnet is added to the structure (Figure 2), and after the coil is de-energized, the contacts remain in the same state as when the coil was energized. Only when the next reverse current is passed will the contact be converted to another state.
